Last week I had the honor of staying at the beautiful Bed and Breakfast, The Homestead. This beautiful home is located in Madison, Connecticut, and is just a short distance from the lovely beaches and downtown!

This was actually my first time visiting Madison, CT and oh my goodness did It steal my heart! This delightful beach town has a relaxed feel and has fabulous beaches, shopping and dining. I was also so impressed with how kind everyone I met in the community was!

My husband, Cameron, and I visited with our little dog Kai our one-year-old Cavapoo puppy. We were so excited to learn that they were pet-friendly! You guys know me, I love bringing Kai everywhere with me, so I was just thrilled to have her by my side on our little getaway. 🙂

The Homestead staff was incredibly kind to us during our stay and even gave us a tour of the beautiful inn! The decor was incredibly cozy with a classic traditional design. Just perfect for a stay in a New England B&B!

We stayed in Room 7 which was located on the first floor of the Inn and had a large King size bed with your own private patio and access to the yard. It was perfect for those traveling with a pet as we could always step outside for her to do her business. The patio had a large umbrella to shade you from the sun and two red Adirondack chairs to sit on and take in the lovely lush view of the property.

One of my favorite things about The Homestead is that they have In-room record players! They will ask you prior to your visit what your favorite music genre is and have records sitting out for you in your room. It’s really a nice touch and I have to admit – there’s really something so romantic about an old record player playing your favorites! For those curious – I chose Jazz!

The beach is just a short ride away from The Homestead, so be sure and take a beach cruiser out for a ride! They are stocked with blankets and a cute straw basket for your things. Kai fit quite nicely If I do say so myself!

Cameron and I had a lovely dinner at Chapter One in Guilford, Connecticut per the staff’s recommendation. This was our first time to Chapter One and we will definitely be back! We sat on the outdoor patio with little Kai and they were kind enough to bring her a dog dish of water and give her lots of pats on the head. They have concerts on the lawn in the back in the summer (prior to COVID) and the dining room aesthetic is perfect for a date night if you want a more formal feel.

We really enjoyed our cocktails and appetizers, fried avocados and bruschetta. For our main entree, Cameron ordered the Surf and Turf and I had the Chicken Piccata. It was all so delicious! Dessert was a homemade cheesecake that honestly was one of the best I’ve ever had. Please please do yourself a favor and get a slice If you go!

The staff was beyond kind to us and we even got to meet the head chef! Chapter One was the perfect summer dinner spot and we can’t wait to come back.
After dinner, we came back to the Inn, popped some bubbly, and hung out on the cozy couches on the back porch. There is an outdoor gas fireplace on the porch that will keep you nice and toasty and they also have blankets for guests on hand. It was such a relaxing evening…before bed, I took a shower with their luxury Spa effect high-pressure Shower Head that is infused with Vitamin C and E, and oh my goodness was it nice! The water was so soft – I really can’t explain it any other way – if you go please let me know what you think! 🙂

During this time of COVID-19, The Homestead is offering a beautiful breakfast box and coffee and tea service for their guests. The breakfast was filled with local baked goods, Chobani Yogurt, fruit, and a granola bar. It was such a well-stocked meal – I was able to save some of it for a snack later at the beach! The staff was so attentive to our needs. They served us coffee and tea while we sat outside on the front porch in the Adirondack chairs and the outdoor fireplace kept us warm from the chilly morning air.

The Homestead is an incredibly relaxing and peaceful place to visit. I was so relaxed I even finished a whole book while there! If you are looking for a little getaway or some Connecticut charm, I can’t recommend The Homestead enough. This is also a fabulous location for a wedding or to get ready in before your big day! The location is ideal and I bet you will fall in love with this beautiful Inn and the charming town of Madison just like we did!

Hope you enjoyed the tour of The Homestead and our family photos! 🙂
