Cameron and I have been visiting Mystic, Connecticut since we moved here in 2017…I’ve photographed lots of clients here, made memories here, and taken visiting relatives and friends here time and time again. Mystic is one of those special places that you just want to visit time and time again!
The Whaler’s Inn in downtown Mystic is a beauty! I remember seeing it on our first visits and always thinking that I wanted to stay there. Back in the fall of this year, I tagged along with my girlfriend Kristy and we had such a great experience that I knew I wanted to come back with my husband for a little getaway close to home one day!

It’s funny how you can visit a town a handful of times for day trips, but spending the night at a location and getting more time there, gives you a whole new perspective and experience. I felt this to be very true of our recent trip to The Whaler’s Inn during the holidays and am so glad we got to experience the magic of Christmas time in Mystic, Connecitcut.
The Whaler’s Inn is a total of 5 buildings right in downtown Mystic. It was built in 1920 and was converted to the Whaler’s Inn hotel in 1969. A little fun fact – the first floor has been the site of commercial businesses, including a Ford Model-T showroom, a gift shop, and a hardware store!
We stayed in the 1865 House in the Morgan Suite which is a 500 sq ft. luxurious suite with two rooms and features a double-sided gas fireplace, original hardwood floors and views of Main Street from the oversized picture window in the sitting room. This room is suitable for adults only.
We genuinely can’t recommend this suite enough for a couples getaway or even a honeymoon or anniversary!
We especially loved the double sided fireplace and the large picture windows in each room. The space fills with light in the mornings and it serves as the perfect backdrop for your holiday Mystic getaway.

Cameron and I did a lot of staying in and enjoying the fireplace and holiday movies and hot cocoa. The gift shop has lots of snacks to choose from as well as other goodies!
The lounge area of The Whaler’s Inn was all decked out for the holidays! I can’t wait for COVID-19 to be over so that I can spend more time in there and look through the books and lounge on those cozy sofas. For now though, it was beautiful to look at it and it felt so festive! The staff did a beautiful job.

I’m also a big fan of The Whaler’s Inn gift shop! They have a beautiful array of maritime souvenirs and really cute hotel themed gifts! I genuinely love this shop and even like to pop in here to see what they have in store when I’m not staying for the night – it’s just that cute!

We also were very impressed with the COVID-19 safety protocols that they had in effect that you can find here. We felt so safe during our visit and appreciated how much care they put into the safety of their guests and staff.

Included in your stay is a beautiful and delicious continental breakfast at The Shipwrights Daughter which is located at the hotel. The service here is always fantastic and the food is always so amazing! Even if you aren’t staying at the hotel – the restaurant is open to visitors and is the perfect spot to grab some brunch or a nice dinner out.

“Located in the heart of downtown Mystic, The Shipwright’s Daughter is the newest addition to our beloved town’s thriving culinary community. Celebrating New England’s fresh & flavorful food heritage, Executive Chef David Standridge introduces an inspired menu that changes daily, reflecting the unique character of coastal Connecticut.” – The Shipwrights Daughter

Dinner at The Shipwright’s Daughter is a wonderful culinary experience that will leave you wanting to come back for more.
We also just loved the friendly staff! They were so helpful with helping us decide on what to order for the experience and they were so on it when it came to anticipating our needs. Well done!

They also have a really awesome shopping experience happening in Mystic right now which is the VIP Holiday Shopping Pass! I loved visiting some of the retailers included and all of the shops were dressed up for the season!
